CPA Australia

25 years is a very long time to work with one client. Unless, of course, you both believe passionately in changing the world.

Dream into action

As one of the world’s premier accounting bodies, CPA Australia provides training, support and advocacy services to 144,000 finance, accounting and business professionals in 127 nations.

In 1989, CPA joined forces with DeakinCo. to devise and deliver the CPA Program.

This groundbreaking education initiative would go on to become the largest professional upgrade program in the southern hemisphere.

Testing times

DeakinCo. assembled a crack team of experts to help CPA develop first-rate study materials.

This core team included program managers, educational designers, psychometricians, online developers, editors and desktop publishers.

Our staff also liaised closely with Deakin University to access other specialist skills as needed.

This large, pivotal project saw DeakinCo. combine its characteristic flair for innovation with its matchless industry resources and contacts.

Built to provide international capability, our printing, logistics, library, information technology and customer-focussed administration departments were thoroughly put through their paces.

On the IT front, we developed a variety of computer-based instructional materials. These ranged from relatively straightforward randomised multiple-choice tests to sophisticated interactive case-based applications for complex subjects such as ethics and taxation.

On academic, technical and even aesthetic grounds, we soon realised this would be one of our finest works.

Personal best

In the last quarter century, the CPA Program has grown to become one of the world’s most recognised and respected postgraduate accounting programs.

Quality and integrity rank high among its traits.

Today, with around 30,000 enrolments per semester (a third from overseas), we continue to leverage Deakin University’s infrastructure and support systems to service far-flung distance learning candidates from the Andes to the Middle East.

A typical semester sees us organise 300 international venues, process 80% of papers within five business days of an examination (and 99.9% within 15).

We then marshal 500 markers to assess 20 000 scripts in a single long weekend.

Time flies when you’re having this much fun. Even after 25 years on the job, we keenly look forward to many more fruitful decades with one of our all-time favourite clients.
